Themed Experience - The Saint Louis Zoo Wild Care Park

Impossible Safari

The Saint Louis Zoo tapped G&A to help them develop a themed experience for their new Wild Care Park location, a world-class safari park and conservation center spanning 425 acres. This ambitious project aims to create a destination where guests can forge meaningful connections with wildlife, while also supporting the Zoo’s global conservation efforts for the world’s most endangered species. The Impossible Safari will be an engaging, interactive environment that fosters curiosity and connection with wildlife while incorporating elements of physical challenge as part of the overall experience, aiming to blend the best elements of both a zoo and science center.

Content Design

The museum tells a chronological story spanning 1735 - 1852. Over 100 years of political development and historical legacy. The G&A team partnered with the client team to deep dive into content and historical research, and then worked on organizing the information in the most effective way that would allow the museum to tell the story through the right lens while maintaining a clear and approachable visitor experience.

Key Gallery Moments

The galleries bring the Adams story to life through rich content and varied forms of active visitor engagement:

  1. The Adams story unfolds around the perimeter of each gallery, creating a clear narrative through line with rich historical detail that guides visitors through the experience.

  2. Each gallery features a signature experience that immerses visitors in a defining moment or place from the Adams story, each grounded in a core Adams value. These signature experiences illuminate key Adams stories while inviting visitors to reflect on their own values. Each is highly participatory and centered around a clear content takeaway.

  3. At the center of each gallery, tactile civics interactives invite visitors to participate, make connections, and consider how civic life continues to take shape today. These civics interactives connect the Adams story to present-day civic life. Each gallery includes multiple moments that encourage visitors to explore, reflect, and participate.

Art Direction

Extensive research and explorations went into the art direction of the space, ensuring that every design choice was considered and intentional. Spatial Design, interaction, narration, graphics, illustrations, color and materials all influenced and played a role in how the space comes to life, while adding depth and purpose to every choice.
