krypton’s faces of villainy ar
Teaming up with SyFy, The Mill created three facial filters for the release of Krypton’s second season.
The effect is based on three of the main villains in season two highlighting characteristics of each and placing them in settings where you would see them in the show. There are also secondary triggers associated with each one that deepens their character’s storyline and gives the user a glimpse of who they are in the show.
| Brief
SYFY channel / DC comics approached us to create 3 AR activations to celebrate the new season of Krypton.
The user can become either of 3 iconic Krypton villains: Doomsday, Brainiac or Lobo. The immersive transformation not only puts the user into scene of Krypton but also creates word of mouth on social media to promote the show’s premiere and the introduction to these characters.
| Highlights
The big task was to sculpt 3 characters from scratch. This process gave us optimised workflow from sculpting to rigging into Spark AR to maximize high fidelity visual presentation but also deliver everything at a smaller file size.
We succeeded to achieve immersive transformation, incorporating the facial features of the user in the effect, which was vital for this experience.
